Policies

Reservations: can be made online by going to the Room Availability page or by phone any day of the week between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. at: 413-575-2277. Sugar Maple Trailside Inn accepts VISA and MasterCard. We do not accept Discover or AMEX. A credit card number is necessary to reserve a room and your deposit is equal to one night's lodging or 1/2 if you are booking an extended stay. Check-in is after 4 p.m. Late night check-ins are no problem, but we do ask guests to call and let us know their approximate time of arrival.  We'll confirm your reservation by email.


Cancellations:  Two weeks notice is required to fully refund any deposit. If your reservation is canceled less than 14 days from your assigned dates, your deposit will be refunded only if we are able to re-book the room(s).  Same day cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full amount.
 

Children: Well-behaved children over the age of 10 are welcome. If you are able or interested in both rooms, we will be happy to allow younger children in our other guest room. That won't be a problem at all.

 

Smoking  We strive to accommodate our guests, but smoking or vaping are not permitted anywhere on the grounds.

Pets: We have one cat--Louise, a double-pawed, mischievous, but friendly cat. We also have a dog, a Scottish Terrier-ist--Thelma. They rule the roost here and ask that you leave your pets at home.  If you are allergic to cats or dogs, rest assured that they are not allowed in the guest rooms, and thus no allergens will be found there.  Scotties don't shed and they are hypo-allergenic too.

Graduation Weekends:  Being in the Five College area, (UMass, Amherst, Hampshire, Mt. Holyoke and Smith) our busiest time of year is those graduation weekends. Being so close to Smith we typically book far in advance; sometimes years in advance.

As such we have developed these policies in order to be fair to our guests, our waiting-list, ourselves and our home. If they seem stringent or draconian, it is only because we've been doing this for over 15 years and we've lived through some unfun graduation weekends.  


1.    We do not up-charge for graduation weekends—nor do we require three night stays.  Our default two-night minimum stay and regular pricing still applies.   
2.    Bookings for graduation weekends however, will require a non-refundable full payment in advance. This payment must be by check—and mailed to us at;  Sugar Maple Trailside Inn, 62 Chestnut St. Florence, MA  01062.
3.    We maintain a waiting list for these weekends and if you cancel—for whatever reason-- we will go to the next people on our waiting list.
4.    If you cancel, there will be no refund to you and you will not be able to back-fill the room nights with friends or other relatives not known to us. The rooms WILL go to the next people on our waiting list.
