THE TRAIL & AREA

Your front door to the Mass Central Rail Trail.

The house sits eight feet from the trail, built on the New Haven RR's Williamsburg Branch which is one of the 18 other intersecting trails. This is one of the earliest municipally built rail trails in the Northeast.

RIDE OR WALK INTO TOWN

Head into downtown Northampton, or keep going across the Connecticut River toward Amherst. The trail is part of a growing route that will one day link Northampton to Boston.

BORROW A BIKE

We keep bikes for guests to use on the trail, and we're a League of American Bicyclists Bicycle Friendly Business.

COLLEGES NEARBY

We're the closest B&B to Smith College and central to UMass, Amherst, and Mount Holyoke.

Self-Guided Tours

Craig has spent 25 years helping turn old rail lines into trails, and he's put what he knows into a free video tour series and two biking and walking guides. Watch before you come, or bring them along on the trail.

Need lunch for the ride? Our go-tos are Northampton Brewery and Tandem Bagel.

Florence & Northampton

Florence is a Civil War–era mill village within Northampton, rich in abolitionist history, including a statue of Sojourner Truth. Downtown Northampton's restaurants, galleries and music venues are a short ride away.

Don’t miss Miss Florence Diner — 200 yards away, 10% off for our guests with certificate.
